An important part of responsible pet ownership is understanding
Your animal’s body language. Dogs and cats communicate with their faces, ears, eyes, tails — their entire bodies. Knowing how to read the body language of animals is critical to knowing what they need, how to approach/help them and keep people and other animals safe.

Animal handling skills are any techniques used to approach, manipulate, and keep an animal calm, as well as any methods of restraint used to protect yourself and others.

This training is designed for anyone working in the animal care field with emphasis on staff and volunteers working in an emergency-sheltering situation during disaster. It includes information useful for anyone who cares about and provides home to animals.

Training is free and open to the public.
